SmartCore 700 is aimed at intermediate purification and polishing of viruses and other large biomolecules in flowthrough mode. Each Bead has a ligand-activated core and an outer layer without ligands. The layer prevents the large targets from enter into the beads whereas smaller proteins and impurities enter into the core where they bind to the hydrophobic and positively charged octylamine ligand. The molecular size cut-off for proteins is approximately Mr=690000.
Smac MMA is a multimodal strong anion exchange resin with ionic interaction, hydrogen bond, hydrophobic interac tion. Smac MMA can remove key impurities such as DNA, host cell proteins (HCP), leached protein A, aggregates, and viruses in post-protein A purification steps. It can also be used for fine purification of other biomolecules (such as removal of dimers, polymers, host cell proteins, nucleic acids, etc.).
INTRODUCTION
Multimodal chromatography is a chromatographic separation method in which more than one interaction exists between the stationary phase and the analyte. These techniques utilize media support with functionalized ligands that have different modes of interaction at the same time, such as size exclusion, affinity, ion exchange, or hydrophobic interactions. Combining these interactions improves selectivity during the protein purification process.
